Recreational soccer is JUSA's largest program, with over 2,000 recreational players in the Fall season. All registered players are organized onto a team of all skill levels in the city that best fits for them. There are two Recreational seasons throughout the year.
Recreation is JUSA's largest program, with nearly 3,000 recreational players in the Fall season. Players register and are formed into teams in Anaheim, Placentia, and Yorba Linda. Unlike some sports which have rigid registration boundaries, soccer allows people to sign up in whichever city is the best "fit" for them.
Every player in U6-U14 registered by deadline will get on a team.
Every player is guaranteed playing time.
(For ages U6 through U7, every player is guaranteed 1/2 playing time. For ages U8-U10, every player is guaranteed 3/4 playing time. For ages U12 through U19, every player is guaranteed 1/2 playing time)
Most games are local. At the younger ages, teams play within either Anaheim, Placentia, or Yorba Linda. By U12 & U14, there are not enough teams to keep games in one city, so teams may travel a bit. Our U16 and U19 teams play in the Inter-City League, and may travel as far as Whittier or Laguna Niguel.
Costs are low. The total cost for insurance, uniforms, pictures, trophies, field maintenance, referee fees, team parties, banners, and overhead is hundreds of dollars less than Club or Signature programs.
No Paid Trainers. Recreation teams are coached by parent volunteers. (JUSA provides training.)
Registration runs April -May.
Teams are formed in June and practice begins around the 1st of August.
There are "Friendship Games" in mid-late August.
League season begins the first Saturday after Labor Day.
High school age teams have a compressed schedule, to get their regular season, playoffs, and Inter-City Cup play totally finished before the CIF season begins Dec 1.
Teams of players under 8 years old end their season before Thanksgiving. They do not do playoffs, Inter-City, or All Star games.
Recreational teams from U9 through U14 have playoffs after the league season leading to a "JUSA Cup" winner. They also participate in Inter-City playoffs and All-Stars. For some teams, and All-Stars, the Fall Season winds up toward the end of January.
Registration runs December through mid-January.
