Each year many soccer families are faced with a dilemma: continue playing recreational soccer or make the big jump to competitive soccer. For those recreational players that have developed a higher level of soccer skill, the natural progression is to make the move to competitive soccer. However, this jump requires a family making a sizable commitment in terms of both time and financial resources. For years, there has been a definite expressed need to provide an opportunity for young players to play soccer at an intermediate level, between the beginning recreational play and the highly committed competitive play. Hence the birth of the Cal South Signature Leagues.

In 2021, JUSA's Signature League became JUSA Select.   

Who is eligible to play Fall 2024 Select?

All players born 2010-2016 (U9-U15) are eligible to tryout for Fall Select teams.  2017 players (U8) can tryout and play up to U9 with permission.

Do I have to register? Can I just come to tryouts?

All players, new or returning, MUST register to tryout. No walk-on tryouts will be allowed. Registering for tryouts does not obligate you to play on a Select team.

Do I have to pay when I register?

No, you will not have to pay anything when you register. 

If I am a player frozen by a coach, do I need to participate in the  tryouts?

No.  Frozen players do not need to attend tryouts but MUST register for tryouts.  This is how frozen players will be placed on their teams.

Can I sign up for tryouts if I have been frozen by a Recreation coach?

Yes. Please note that teams are formed first before Recreation teams are formed. If you make a Select team you will be removed from the Recreation league before Recreation teams are formed.

What is included in the fees?

• 10-12 game season w/referee fees, practice 2x per week
• Team funds for 1-2 tournaments per season
• Uniforms (Home and Away plus practice shirts)
• Picture Day photo package (with digital image)
• Soccer ball (Size 4 or 5)

Current Chelsea SC, US Club, Cal South, and Competitive Level Players from any league cannot participate in Rec, Rec Gold, or Select Programs to protect the fairness of competition.
