Team Parent / Manager Information

What is a Team Parent / Team Manager?

Any parent volunteer who coordinates all non-Coaching related team activities (Team Parent is the same as Team Manager.  Team Manager is a term used at the Select / Club level of play).  You are in charge of the team FUN!

You can also fill in as a Coach if needed (LiveScan & other requirements). Every practice, game and team activity must have at least one background checked individual there.  If a Coach or Assistant Coach can’t attend, the Team Parent is the responsible person.

Organization is the Key to a Successful Season!

Team Parents work with their Coach to organize and manage team activities.   Talk to your coach once the team rosters have been finalized and sign up through our site.  You'll receive communication from JUSA's Team Activities Director on the following items throughout the season.

  • Contact Lists.  Teams need a method for reaching each other to let people know about practice times, game time changes, and ride sharing.  Consider using Shutterfly Team Sites or Team Apps to keep the team informed easily.
  • Distribution of Schedules:  This is usually done for both practice and game schedules when they are available.  Be sure you are checking the JUSA site often and communicate with your group of parents!  Again, Shutterfly Team Sites can really help out.
  • Uniforms / Names on Jerseys.  Younger teams almost always want player names on the back of the jersey.  This helps Coaches learn names too!  (There are rules about names though; only players' first or last names.)
  • Banners.  Younger teams often make colorful sideline banners. Older teams often have flags.  The choice is up to you and your team.
  • Collecting  and Budgeting Money.  There are team expenses in addition to the JUSA registration fees, such as putting names on jerseys, team banners, playoff referee fees, team parties, etc.   Your budget will depend on your age level of play, and what your team decides to participate in.  $40-$50 per player is a benchmark budget for a typical team.
  • Referee Fees. Regular season referee fees are paid with registration fees, check will be provided to team.  Games after regular season, i.e. playoffs, are paid by team fees.
  • More.  Team Pictures, Trophies or Medals, Organizing Team Parties, (see below).
  • You are a huge asset to your team, and your coach!
