JUSA began in 1973 when a few local soccer enthusiasts introduced the game to our community by offering organized games to neighborhood youth interested in learning a new sport.  Approximately 400 boys and girls participated in the first year under the name of "MINIKICKERS".

The name was changed to JUSA in 1974 and boys and girls from Brea and Fullerton brought the total to 900 players.  In addition, an affiliation was established with the cities of La Habra and El Toro to provide a complete season of scheduled games.  By 1975, JUSA narrowed its geographic area of play to Anaheim, Placentia and Yorba Linda with Fullerton and Brea as associates and still grew to 3,000 players by 1976.  JUSA incorporated in 1975 and joined the newly formed California Youth Soccer Association as an independent club.

The JUSA program expanded further in 1977 with the addition of organized 'clinic' play for 4-6 year olds and the addition of a Competitive program affiliated with the Coast Soccer League for the more aggressive and talented older players.  In 1981 membership peaked at nearly 4,500 players making JUSA the second largest independent soccer club in the United States at that time.

JUSA was the first club in Southern California to embrace "small sided games", which later became the standard for players under 10 years of age.

JUSA led the development of a Signature (now Select) playing circuit, which was more competitive than recreation, but less costly and requiring less travel than club soccer.

Fast forward to 2024, we survived a global pandemic and kept soccer alive for our community.  In our 50th year, we are so proud to be a part of our JUSA families' lives.   Thank you for 50 years of your unwavering support.   Cheers to a great year!
